new eats for me in nyc

Decided to try a couple of new places (for me) this past trip into NYC. Too many times I am at the same tried and true places on business meals. I tried Virgil's BBQ and Joe's Pizzeria both on 44th just off Times Square.

Dreamland BBQ in Alabama is by far the best rib BBQ I have ever been to but this is a close second. The atmosphere is chill and the food was fresh but a little overdone, a little dry. I had the combo pork ribs with brisket, mac cheese and cornbread, such large portions too. Totally appreciate the hand towel they give you with dinner. Best thing there as too many BBQ places make you survive with only paper napkins.

Joe's Pizzeria was awesome, recommended by a NYPD buddy of mine who used to walk this beat. We had pizza, garlic knots, fried mozzarela and brushetta. Everything was fresh and delicious. Family style vibe and casual enough for families or informal business for sure. Definitely will stay in the rotation. Check it.
